Orna Ross is an author-publisher who writes novels, poems and nonfiction about the creative process and describes self-publishing as the best decision of her writing life. Her three novels in ebook format — After the Rising (2011) and Before the Fall (2012), Vols I & II of her planned Irish Trilogy, and a standalone novel, Blue Mercy (2013) — regularly top the literary fiction bestseller category on Amazon, Apple and elsewhere.
In 2015 she published Secret Rose, a special-edition tribute to the Irish poet WB Yeats, which brings together his book of talismanic short stories with her novel, Her Secret Rose, a telling of the true-life story behind Yeats’s stories. Her Secret Rose is the first volume in Ross’s ‘Between The Words’ trilogy, three novels centred on the love triangle between WB Yeats, his long time love and muse, the Irish revolutionary Maud Gonne, and her daughter Iseult, to whom the poet also proposed marriage. Each novel is also a standalone story in itself and Vol II (A Child Dancing) and III (But A Dream) will publish separately, and together in trilogy, in 2016. Also in the works for 2016 are the first books in Ross’s ‘Go Creative!’ series, eagerly awaited by her large blog following.
Orna Ross is also founding director of the non-profit, global membership association for authors who self-publish, The Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi), work for which The Bookseller named her ‘one of the 100 most influential people in publishing.’
