Odafe Atogun chosen for WH Smith ‘Fresh Talent’ in Spring 2018
Odafe Atogun‘s acclaimed second novel Wake Me When I’m Gone (Canongate) has been chosen as one of 12 titles for the prestigious W. H. Smiths ‘Fresh Talent’ promotion in Spring 2018.
Atogun is one of the most exciting and original voices in contemporary African fiction. His novel, which combines folklore with traditional Nigerian story-telling against the background of a rapidly changing modern world, was described by Helon Habila in the Guardian as ‘beautiful and evocative’.
Atogun’s first novel, Taduno’s Song. was published in five languages and chosen for the Radio 2 Book Club and was widely praised. The Man-Booker winner Marlon James described it as ‘a colossal epic’
The ‘Fresh Talent’ promotion takes place in 50 branches of WH Smiths Travel shops and begins on 1 February 2018.
